Push Google Buzz to Twitter, Identi.ca, Facebook and pretty much anything (updated)

(This blog has moved. See surgut.co.uk for updates)

Until Google Buzz supports pushing updates natively here is a quick guide how to push your buzzes to social networking websites.
  1. Click buzz
  2. Click on your name
  3. Click “Google Profile”
  4. Click on RSS button in your browser to get the feed (http://buzz.googleapis.com/feeds/NNNNN/public/posted where NNNNN long string of numbers from your Google Profile URL)
  5. Go to twitterfeed.com to set up pushing your buzz feed to Twitter, Identi.ca, Facebook or pretty much to any social site using Ping.fm. (Make sure to change advanced setting to “1/2 hour” that will actually push updates live as soon as they are buzzed using PubSubHubBub technology. Twitterfeed people will update “1/2 hour” wording to “live” soon. )

If you still have problems with updates check the feed status. Good status is “feed status:  Feed Checked OK”. If feed is ok then your logins might be wrong or twitterfeed is down =(

Good thing twitterfeed supports OpenId and PubSubHubBub for hassle free and near instantaneous publishing from your feed =)

  1. Orrin says:

I setup Google Buzz to connect to Google Chat Status updates, then setup ping.fm to talk to whatever networks I want (Facebook, Google Chat status updates, etc.), then just post to ping.fm via web, SMS, email, or IM.

  2. Social comments and analytics for this post…

This post was mentioned on Twitter by zuissi: Ubuntu: Dmitrijs Ledkovs: Push Google Buzz to Twitter, Identi.ca, Facebook and pretty much anything: Until Google … http://bit.ly/a9U4zI

  3. Well I didn’t want to sign up to ping.fm =) and my Buzzes are usually rich contents and I want that to be pushed to facebook =)

  4. Orrin says:

Yeah, ping.fm probably can’t handle rich contents very well.

  5. Daniel says:

How can you do it the other way round?

    Get Facebook Updates in Buzz?

  6. BasBisseling says:

Twitter doesn’t seem to receive my Buzz rss feed. Facebook does. Anyone any suggestions?

  7. A Mitchell says:

Sourcing from Ping.fm can be a read flag, at least on Identi.ca where a huge majority of incoming spammy posts originate from Ping.fm.

Want to invite other users to block or flag you? Feeding from Ping.fm is your best bet.

Identi.ca has created a community where listening is as important (if not more so) than pushing out content. Ping.fm feeders don’t listen.

    Dei Ping Dei.

  8. suoko says:

google profile string of numbers is not that easy to find

  9. Raymon says:

Yes me too Twitter doesn’t seem to receive my Buzz rss feed.

  10. Eevee says:

Wasn’t the whole point of RSS that it’s PULL, not push?

  11. [...] is the original post: Push Google Buzz to Twitter, Identi.ca, Facebook and pretty much … Share and [...]

  12. Buzz Rss feed is PubSubHubBub enabled which makes it Push feed as well. Twitterfeed supports this type of push.

  13. Donny Pratka says:

in Google Reader (which ends up on Buzz) you’re invited to tag the content.

  14. Is Google going to compete with Facebook Buzz?

  15. Walter says:

    What was your childhood like?

  16. Mark Essel says:

    Thanks Surgut!
I got the heads up earlier on how to connect networks but this one popped up on a quick search. I recently moved from native to remote twitter feeding social message setup.
